چکیده

The mortality and morbidity of coronary arteriography are presented with particular reference to the relative safety of the Sones as compared with the Judkins technique. There were 6 deaths in 400 investigations (i *5%), and all occurred with the3Judkins technique. The morbidity is analysedfor the last 250 investigations; cardiac infarction and serious dysrhythmias were more common with the Judkins technique whereas weak or absent pulses were more common with the Sones technique. Our present policy is therefore to prefer the Sones technique, even though we find it more difficult, and to reserve the Judkins technique for some emergency investigations.

Evaluation of contrast media used in man for coronary arteriography.

The electrocardiographic changes induced by the injection of four contrast media into the right and left coronary arteries of man are described. Comparisons have been made between the different media, the techniques used, and the individual coronary artery injected. We conclude that Hypaque 85 is the medium of choice for coronary arteriography, that injection into the right coronary artery is m...

Use of a remotely controlled mechanical pump for coronary arteriography: a study of radiation exposure and quality implications.

BACKGROUND Exposure to radiation is a hazard of invasive cardiology. To minimise the risk it is essential to keep the doses received as low as possible. AIM To assess the effect on cardiologist radiation exposure and the quality of coronary artery opacification of the use of a remotely controlled mechanical pump for coronary arteriography. A secondary aim was to assess any disadvantages and s...

Selective coronary arteriography.

The technique of selective coronary arteriography, as described originally by Sones, was employed in 255 patients. Successful catheterization of both coronary arteries was carried out in 88% of these patients, and in the last 100 examinations both coronary arteries were entered in 95 patients. Selective coronary arteriography is a useful diagnostic tool but is a potentially hazardous form of ex...

Successful catheter interventional therapy for acute coronary syndrome secondary to kawasaki disease in young adults.

Acute coronary syndrome occurred in 2 young adults who had a history of Kawasaki disease (KD), but few other coronary risk factors. The first patient was a 27-year-old male with acute myocardial infarction without stenosis detected by coronary arteriography 4 years earlier. Emergency coronary arteriography showed occlusion of the right coronary artery. Aspiration-thrombectomy and rescue balloon...
